As the first federal legislative action on domestic and foreign censorship following the rollout of UK OSA and EU DSA occurred today, I am creating this legislative tracker to track bill statuses.

Depending on how ambitious the U.S. Congress and the states are when it comes to defending the First Amendment, the emerging legal regime being tracked here may wind up being of equal importance to the EU Digital Services Act and UK/Australian Online Safety Acts to U.S. companies doing worldwide Internet business.

As any new legislative proposals are introduced in the coming weeks and months I will add them, and track them, here.

Taken up as interim topic by the House Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology, with the aim of reintroduction as a committee bill in early 2027. S. 4749, the JAWBONE Act	Introduced in U.S. Senate 11 June 2026.	N/A	Federal bill. Reportedly creates federal cause of action for “jawboning” indirect censorship; requires government to publicly disclose jawboning incidents. Does not address foreign censorship directly, but does deal with a censorship vector where foreign coordination has been an issue in the past (namely U.S. government jawboning).
